This guy makes it look easy

When there are 30mph sustained winds, gusting to over 40 and waves 8-10 feet this guy makes it look easy.

windsurfing wed June 1, 2011

Last one off the water wins

I.M. Ducks in the evening light
Nothing like warm water, clear sky and good wind to bring out the crowds. An approaching cold front made for almost perfect conditions for a group of deserving Boardheads. The long winter and unseasonably cold spring made June 1 a welcome day.
Ask any wind addicted sailor and they will tell you that they will drop whatever they are doing and break whatever commitment they have made in order to get out on the water on a day like June 1,
But reality, we all know it doesn't always work that way, family, friends and yes even work all depend on us. Our dedication to the sport is just a symptom of a common personality trait, which is our dedication to what really matters in life.

Bonc’s Dominate Alum Creek race.

TITO CROSSES THE FINISH LINE

The Alum Creek race was held this past Saturday May 21, 2010 amid beautiful blue sky and warm wind and water. Unable to capitalize on their home field (or should I say home mud puddle) advantage the Cows were udderly humiliated by the relentless onslaught of the BONC’s far superior tactical mooneuverings. When this reporter suggested to one dejected cow that the Boncs had eaten their lunch he responded “what’s it to you, you didn’t even race.” While not technically true, I did attempt-t to race but was unable to make it to the starting line. Due no doubt to some bazaar isolated central Ohio wind phenomenon.

Winning 4 out of 5 heats, Bonc’s own TITO sent the Cows out to pasture. Way to go TITO.

wicked friday

October rarely disappoints in Ohio, that is if you don't count my abject disappointment in not being on the OBX. But, Friday October 15 made up for some of my disappointment. It was an odd sort of a day with localized rain squalls moving through the area. Shortly after the rains came through the wind would drop to almost nothing. When I got to fairport people (ok, person) was rigging a 7. Before he got out on the water it was blowing 25-30+. Good thing to, I heard a report of someone at Wendy (no names) who was out with a 9 and got blown down into the river and had to be pulled up the steel wall with a rope. One thing about wind driven water sports is that they keep you in tune with the weather.

why sharks circle

Two great white sharks swimming in the ocean spied a couple of kitesurfers. "Follow me son" the father shark said to the son shark and they swam to the kiters . "First we swim around them a few times with just the tip of our fins showing." And they did. "Well done, son! Now we swim around them a few times with all of our fins showing." And they did. "Now we eat everybody." And they did.

When they were both gorged, the son asked,"Dad, why didn't we just eat them all at first? Why did we swim around and around them?"

His wise father replied, "Because they taste better without the shit inside!"

Sept 4th at Fairport

A happy Eric and Mustafa

Paolo and Yanesh

Steve and Bradley survey their realm.

A great day at Fairport Harbor, WNW winds up to 35, everyone on 4.sumpin's. Pez, Robbo, Mustafa, Steve, Terry, Maynard, Saul, Eric, Paolo, Yanesh (sp?), and a newbie named Adam. I sailed in spite of a bad head cold; never been so happy and miserable at the same time!

A few pics from the Towpath Trail excursion. More posted at Flickr.com, user name bptoe. It was a beautiful day and a great ride in spite of Allison's bad attitude! (just kidding)
